Villa d'Este is in the hills about 45 minutes outside Rome. With its many fountains cooling the air, it's a perfectly delightful place to escape to in the summer, when Rome is hot and humid.
The interesting thing about Villa d'Este is the fact that there are no pumps; all the fountains work by hydraulics. |
